What is counselling?
You can find renewed meaning and purpose in your life.
Whoever you are, whatever you are experiencing at the moment, if you feel you need help dealing with problems and worries, I can give you the time and space, in a private and confidential setting, to explore bothersome thoughts and feelings. You may be experiencing some present difficulties or dissatisfaction with life or you may have lost a sense of direction or purpose.
When we feel anxious, stressed, depressed, angry, guilty or ashamed, those feelings tell us that we are not where we want to be.
I can listen to you in a non judgemental way and together we may come to see more clearly, possibly from a renewed perspective, what is troubling you. Hopefully you will find enough space and acceptance to explore openly your life as well as past and present feelings. This may enable you to gain greater understanding of where and who you are, to discover possibilities for change and to find real life solutions.
We may discover that some psychological tools may be of benefit in your particular case. They may vary from working with the interaction in the room in a psychodynamic fashion or with images and "sub personalities" for example in a Psychosynthesis manner. You may prefer to use a CBT approach for depression or anger . To get in touch with greater awareness of thoughts and feeling Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy ( MBCT) may be useful or we may want to use Lifespan Integration Therapy for certain types of trauma (LI).
Sessions are confidential, unless you can be of serious danger to yourself or others. Even then, whatever you say would not be shared with anyone else without discussing the situation with you first whenever possible.
Whether we are young or more mature, rich or poor, man or woman, tall or small, of any background, ethnicity or sexual orientation, we can all benefit from Counselling at difficult times in our lives.
To be of the fullest benefit, the process requires continuity and regularity. It can be long term or short term. The sessions normally take place once a week and last for 50 minutes.
